Key responsibilities This full-time academic professional position involves research and development activities relevant to high fidelity simulation of solid propellant rockets. The Research Engineer will perform computational simulations of solid propellant rocket performance using software codes principally developed by others. The Research Engineer will also translate rocket motor designs from blueprints and computer aided design drawings to computer-based grids and meshes required by other software codes. The Research Engineer will interact with industrial scientists and engineers in rocket launcher companies to obtain motor designs, material properties, and performance data.
Requirements: A bachelors degree in an engineering field is required (MS preferred), with two to four years related work experience employing a variety of technical applications. The candidate must understand relevant areas of science, engineering, and computing technology, and be able to read, assess, and discuss technical engineering drawings and designs. The candidate will work closely with design engineers and scientists at NASA and in the rocket industry. The candidate must be a US citizen or Permanent Resident Alien (Green Card holder).
The minimum salary is $40,000, and will be commensurate with experience.
